Systemic Innovation Lab: a Lab for Wicked Problems

The 7th Relating Systems Thinking and Design Symposium will be hosted by Politecnico di Torino in Turin (Italy). The aim is to promote an international debate on the multiple applications and purposes on which the systems thinking in design is developed towards sustainability. The symposium will generate nurturing interdisciplinary collaborations and discussions, involving academics, designers and professionals.
Presenting in the stream Models and Process for Systemic Design, Wicked Lab’s Dr Sharon Zivkovic will present a paper titled ‘The Early Stage Analysis of a Systemic Innovation Lab’.

The 10th International Social Innovation Research Conference to be held at Ruprecht-karls-university in Heidelberg Germany September 3-5, 2018.
The theme of this year’s conference theme is ‘Bridging Social and Business Innovation’. The Social Innovation and Complexity Stream will explore the role of complexity theory for social innovation, which draws on the use of complexity theory in the fields of management and organization studies.
Wicked Lab’s Dr Sharon Zivkovic will be co-chairing the complexity stream at the conference. She will also be presenting a paper titled ‘Mapping the field of social innovation and complexity science’.

This year is the 10th Anniversary of the Social Enterprise World Forum. For the first time an Academic Symposium is being held as part of the Forum. Wicked Lab’s Dr Sharon Zivkovic will be presenting a paper titled ‘Teaching social enterprise: a problem understanding and diverse knowledges approach’. This paper will illustrate how social enterprises can contribute towards addressing wicked problems if their initiatives are part of an ecosystem of initiatives that are addressing underpinning causal factors of the wicked problem.

Wicked Lab took part in the The Policy Lab's recent survey research on public sector innovation labs in Australia and New Zealand.
To follow up from this research Wicked Lab have been invited to participate in a workshop on the place of public sector innovation labs in policy systems at University of Melbourne on Monday September 10th 12:30-3pm. This workshop will provide an update on the research and a facilitated panel discussion. Learn more about the event here
